淑萍为金水妈带话让长文去家里吃饭，淑萍让长文别再伤害秀玉。长文表示自己不爱秀玉，但面对秀玉的善良便无法说出口。这一切被尾随淑萍而来的秀玉听见，秀玉神伤。淑萍和芬芳在海边散步，撞见秋娟欲推船入海，以为秋娟的病又复发，再三叮嘱她不要下海。秀玉依旧去帮长文收拾屋子，长文想起淑萍的话欲对秀玉坦白，犹豫再三仍无法开口。晚上，秋娟偷偷划船到了无人岛，终于等来再舜，两人动情相拥。金水和再舜在酒馆喝酒，得知再舜与秋娟相见，金水既羡慕又担心，古韵书来到酒馆告诉再舜他被评为“国军楷模”，再舜冷言自己是被抓来的。三人没发现谈话已被酒馆伙计听见了。再舜和秋娟又一次在无人岛相会，他告诉秋娟半个月后要去家里见母亲，并给了秋娟一些肉罐头。第二天，秋娟抱着罐头回了村里，却被隔壁村的一个男人盯上，说要用白米跟秋娟换罐头。他帮秋娟扛米到村口，却被阿好和美珠撞见，以为她有了相好。秋娟把米扛回家，被林妈发现，秋娟告诉她再舜回来了，林妈却以为秋娟疯病又犯了。生产队分配的白米到了，但米太少，淑萍决定第二批米到了再发给大家。但阿好和美珠不满，淑萍只好把自己的午餐先给阿好吃。下午劳动时，淑萍因挨饿头晕，秋娟不忍心，便把芬芳叫到妈祖庙，拿出白米让她分给淑萍，并把再舜的事告诉了她。这时，阿好和美珠出现，慌乱中秋娟把米洒了，被阿好和美珠发现。众人找淑萍讨说法，秋娟将实情告诉淑萍，淑萍为了救秋娟，将责任揽了下来，村长让她写检讨反省。淑萍从秋娟处得知金水还活着忍不住流泪，但她不准秋娟再冒险去见再舜。永春下落不明，芬芳难掩悲痛。
