唐璧找到孟雪，对她说他破获了一个共产党地下组织，试探孟雪。席少岳拟定的伞兵第一次作战名单里没有孟雪和蔡智诚，孟雪执意加入。蔡智诚也坚持参加，征得了席少岳的同意。最后伊文斯也坚决地加入。出发前唐璧问孟元超这次任务的具体内容，被孟元超拒绝，说为了保密，以后伞兵的任务只有到出发后才公布，唐璧不满。年轻的伞兵们进行了第一次跳伞，显得紧张而激动。但由于风大，他们跳到地上之后就被吹散了，士兵们在搜寻自己的战友。大部分士兵最后与席少岳和伊文斯汇合，孟雪落到了河对岸，跟几名士兵汇合，蔡智诚掉到了一户农家里，紧接着找到了方超和马森。席少岳这边，由于找到的炸药不够，不够炸毁深河桥，伊文斯反对冒险前进，但席少岳说为了完成任务，只能向前。孟雪遇到了几个日本伞兵拖着一车伞兵们失落的降落黄伞和炸药，这些正是伞兵们急于找回的。孟雪带领几个士兵短兵相接杀死了日本兵，夺回了炸药。双方对战过程中，有日本兵开了枪，蔡智诚听见枪声，根据经验判断方向距离，找到了孟雪汇合在一起。又一股日本兵听见枪声寻来，马森为了救孟雪而牺牲。唐璧离开伞兵营，被孟元超派人截了回来，怕他泄露军事秘密。唐璧回来，再次询问伞兵作战的时间和具体任务。孟元超只告知保密。
