刘卫东找到了当年的队长俞海，俞海讲述了当年的故事，俞海接到项文娟的电话，项文娟说她在厂门口花坛等他，并说，如果俞海先到，请务必等。但项文娟再没出现。俞海走访了很多人，走访了很多地方，始终没有找到项文娟。俞海认定项文娟遇害了，是谁干的，因为什么事？俞海没有找到答案。俞海发现厂里的会计安鹏形迹可疑，遂于他接触，安鹏在一个夜里给俞海打电话，约在花坛见面，俞海前往花坛的路上得知，安鹏从过街天桥严重摔伤，最终成为了植物人。俞海认定这背后有阴谋，他始终没有放弃调查，几年后，俞海获得调令，去另一城市任副局长，他拒绝了，继续留在本市，他一定要破这个案子。后来，他陷入偏执中，认定四个人有犯罪嫌疑，但没有证据，局长反对拘捕这四个人，俞海一气之下辞职，这件事轰动了局里。俞海已经到了退休年龄，他依然在关注十五年前这件旧案，为此，他甚至在厂房推倒后在对面开了家洗车行，审视着那几个如今已经发迹了的嫌疑犯。刘卫东同意俞海的分析，认为项文娟和安鹏的被害可能与那四个人有关，但目前高敞的死难道是项文娟出于报复目的干的？项文娟到底是死是活呢？经过一系列调查，疑团更深了。与此同时，师嘉对左南产生了越来越多的好感。左南也时不时来到地下203室找师嘉聊天。原冰冰告诉师嘉，太平间的尸体被人移动过，师嘉不信，二人叫上护工王司晨夜里去蹲守，被吓得够呛，最后什么也没发现，左南出现，训斥他们太荒唐。
