赵英雄抓着西泽和何田对峙，要求何田放了白荣福。何田假意答应换人，却带人包围了他们，知道形势不利的赵英雄准备点燃身上的炸弹。此时，匣子换成日军服装假装送文件接近了何田，趁机抓住了何田旁边的将军，逼迫何田同意换人。

何田对白荣福酷刑攻心双管齐下，利用白荣福和赵英雄对一枝花的爱慕，挑拨白荣福和赵英雄的关系。因此，面对樱子对放回白荣福的可惜，何田笃定白荣福会帮他完成新的任务。为了安全撤退，赵英雄不愿此时杀了西泽，白荣福却开枪杀死了西泽，害的大家被日本人追杀。赵英雄为了保护大部队人马，带领自己的人马向相反方向引走了追兵。虽然白荣福被赵英雄所救，但报纸上都将杀死西泽的白荣福宣传为民族英雄。面对郭北天，白荣福几人不但不感谢赵英雄的救命之恩，反而将赵英雄为保全大局的行为说成是汉奸行为，致使郭北天对赵英雄更加有意见。郭北天准备让白荣福和一枝花成亲，正商量婚期的时候，赵英雄上横头山向郭北天提亲。

当着郭北天和白荣福的面，一枝花承认自己爱赵英雄，但郭北天仍旧不同意二人成亲，赵英雄几人被赶下了山。赵英雄认为日本人一定会找孔祥仁，盯住孔家大院，就能得知日本人动向。果然孔祥仁按照何田的命令，调查郭北天的行军安排。幺贺上山转达赵英雄的计划，将葫芦嘴子和榆树沟子留出来，把何田引入其中。虽然计划是赵英雄想出来的，但是郭北天仍旧没有安排任务给赵英雄。赵英雄不甘心，带着自己的赵家军守在密道，面对何田部队的袭击，众人都逃跑了。

何田发现赵英雄一共只有三个人，全力反击，赵英雄只得撤退。赵英雄发现何田没有追击，猜想他们一定是上了黄山嘴子。果然何田利用密道，带人从背后袭击了郭北天等人，占领了指挥部，郭北天等人只得带人撤走。赵英雄要救郭北天，和孙大白唬兵分两路。赵英雄推测何田占领黄山嘴子之后一定会挖孔三多的墓，于是让孙大白唬带人将二十颗地雷埋在孔三多墓周围，而自己和幺贺带人去救郭北天。
