方茂以为他娘被解放军抓走，闯进区公所救人，黄国方带人跟踪他。方大娘得知邱雯救了她的命，很是感激。眼见方茂胁迫程姗姗，方大娘慌忙解释并劝他放下枪。王少强诚恳劝说方茂看清风向，方大娘亦是声泪俱下，方茂最终被说服。但听说要被派回去做卧底，方茂很犹豫，王少强说会确保他的安全，方大娘也劝他立功赎罪，方茂遂答应回豹头山。王少强从方茂那里得到许殿亭藏了一批秘密武器的消息，向邱子然主动请缨，先查武器再剿匪。许殿亭怀疑晚归的方茂，将其关了禁闭。王少强和陈戈商量查找秘密武器的事情，得知方茂并没有按时传递出消息来。丁得水给许殿亭汇报最近又叛逃了一些人，许殿亭决定找个时机除掉王少强。王少强带领一行人去天火岗村查看下山的土匪，很满意现在做的宣传工作。临走前，方三冬把他母亲给王少强做的鞋垫送来，王少强感动不已。许凌梅从卞大力处得知许殿亭要去打天火岗，去找许殿亭询问真伪，许殿亭骗她自己只是去打猎，许凌梅要他带自己一起，许殿亭假意答应，然后提前带人下山去天火岗大开杀戒，王少强的姑姑被杀，方三冬抓了一个落单的俘虏。许凌梅看许殿亭不见踪影，以为自己被骗，便同春霞出门寻找。在看到丁得水手里的猎物后，许凌梅再次相信了许殿亭。王少强和陈戈审问方三冬抓住的土匪，土匪却把天火岗的事情栽赃给向一光。王少强要发兵攻打马背山，陈戈劝阻无效。邱雯发现陈戈有心事，两人商量着在被俘的土匪身上找突破口。邱雯去给土匪治伤，遭到了抗拒，陈戈叫人按住强行上药，土匪心有所动。王少强打上马背山，向一光一头雾水，只得被动反击。土匪向邱雯说出自己实际是许殿亭的人，陈戈、邱雯带着他赶来阻止王少强，王少强对向一光道歉。
