当唯一的幸存者声称她被指控的父亲是无辜的，csi重开10年前谋杀档案。调查发现犯罪动机属于临时起意。slade反抗时将持枪劫匪击毙，一种类似煤油的味道（后用电子鼻分析，应该是洁枪剂）让同行的女孩AbbyFisher想起一桩10年前Sara处理的旧案——露营时，父亲BarryFisher杀了妈妈Kathy和9岁姐姐Hannah后自杀，5岁受枪伤的她是唯一幸存者。Abby说她父亲不是凶手，凶手留了胡子。Joanna和Brian收养了她。Barry毒检报告显示醉酒，但气相色谱有个峰值（类似布洛芬）没有检测。血液样本3年前销毁，重新挖出尸体检测，幸好尸体保存完整。Barry肝脏里有致人昏迷的药，法医把死因从自杀修改为不确定。重启案件。帐篷门帘指纹无匹配。Hannah睡袋指纹属于garthfogel，性犯罪者，是Hannah生父。Kathy对外声称Hannah生父死于车祸。案发时garth刚出狱一个月。通过情景重建，Abby想起凶手夹克徽标像鹿。现场有麋鹿的血。在Charleston山附近有一个传奇野猎俱乐部，老板Randy提供会员名单，Abby指认出Donaldwraith，但他死在自己车里，自己的枪下。枪上有合成树脂，仅用于动物标本剥制术。和Randy2周前买的树脂成分一样。名单上的指纹与帐篷里的匹配。Randy交代，Fisher夫妇来问路，Donald对Kathy起了心思，他俩尾随，伪装露营和Barry喝酒，趁机下药，Donald进帐篷杀了母女3人，R把女孩抱回睡袋，D出去解决Barry。但药物一般不会随身携带，除非不是第一次作案。而且Abby认出抱她的人是D，不是Randy。
