武松归来，没有人敢再欺负武大，炊饼生意也上升不少，与其一起卖梨的郓哥也以认识武松为荣，常与武大结伴相随。潘金莲一方面对着一个猥琐丑陋的武大，另一边则是一个英武潇洒的武松，心有不甘，故对武松表现出格外热情及体贴，并借机挑逗武松。武大则早出晚归，努力做生意，更暗为武松娶妻作准备。一日，潘金莲悉心打扮后，寂寞难耐，往窗外观看，不慎将碰到叉竿，正好打在过路的西门庆头上。西门庆仰望，见金莲光彩照人，死死盯住不放，金莲心慌，放下竹帘。潘金莲对武大的厌恶，与对武松的爱慕与日俱增，一日借武大未归，便要与武松喝交杯酒，面对金莲挑逗，武松严词以拒，从此搬回县衙住宿，数日后，武松受命出远差，临行前再三叮嘱武大，及劝说潘金莲要洁身自好。
