为缓解戏班的经济危机，彩云提出想让雨虹和她同台演出，这样票价可以卖高一些。雨虹不敢答应，彩云求陆兴和家里人好好商量。不料雨虹的婆家人坚决反对，并让雨虹登报声明永远离开戏台。雨虹认命，彩云颇为不平，打电话找陆兴算帐。白长起来福来戏院看戏，为彩云送了花篮。彩云突然见到白长起非常吃惊和兴奋，白长起邀请彩云和雨虹去申城最著名的大酒楼紫霄宫吃饭。白长起带着常乐来了，两人共同怀念起在景宏戏班的往事。彩云说起鸿运戏班面临的困境，白长起马上提出邀请。雨虹提醒彩云，对白长起要小心。彩云不以为然。白长起在吃饭时将彩云的手绢装进自己的兜里，回到戏院后向常乐表露出要成家的意思。白长起为了毁丘三，故意将戏院的一成收入交给丘三。彩云将白长起邀请韶华去大华戏院演出的事告诉了周老板。周班主和白长起签了演出合约，白长起表示愿意承担戏班离开福来戏院的违约金，让周老板异常感动。周班主为了能让戏班在大华有个好的开头，提出请戏院负责票务的按目们吃饭。

白长起要去见阿标，临走前托付常乐，万一回不来，让常乐给他收尸，照顾好彩云，拿走戏院的钱做个小买卖。常乐劝阻不住，只好答应下来。白长起将戏院分红的钱交给阿标，精明的阿标发现有一成收入列入了成本，白长起说是给了丘三。阿标叫来丘三，丘三承认了事实，却指出是白长起想陷害他。阿标杀了丘三，白长起躲过一劫。
